Three Weeks…

Three weeks from today I’ll be having a life-changing surgery – RNY Gastric Bypass. I’ve gone back and forth about whether or not i’d announce it to the world. But I’ve decided to just say it and get it over with. Most people in my day-to-day life already know anyway. :)

It’s been over a year coming. A year of researching and praying and doctor visits and tests and WAITING. As Tom Petty famously said, the waiting is the hardest part.

There are so many hoops to jump through, so many things to think about and try before you get to this point. Trust me, it’s not a decision that anyone comes to rashly. Even if you WANTED to make a spur-of-the moment decision, your insurance and your surgeon wouldn’t allow it.

I’m blessed to have one of the top surgeons in the country. I trust him fully and he’s set up a very rigorous, thorough program that you must complete before he’ll operate. I’m not afraid of the surgery at all.

I’m more afraid of ‘doing everything right’ – making sure I get enough protein, water, vitamins, minerals, et cetera. This surgery is serious business!

That being said, I’m so happy! This year is going to be a great one. Painful? Definitely. Difficult? Certainly. Exciting? Absolutely!

So glad your SIL is doing well. :) People do like to tell me all the horror stories they’ve ever heard of once they hear my plan – Probably like they do to pregnant women. lol
